This is where you need a parts book. IH still has the Power Steering manual for the 504. There are two systems. One uses a Charlynn inside the dash casting. I think the input is keyed and threaded for the steering wheel. The other is fully hydrostatic. I have a new flow control valve for that. It might work for the Charlynn as well. I believe the hydrostatic also requires an oil cooler.
I put a Charlynn on the steering shaft that comes out of the bolster. I didn't want all the steering torque to go through the three mickey-mouse U-joints. Can't remember where I got the hydraulic power from. I'd have to look at it. I know that I put a Farmall Super A or C hydraulic pump in the blocked off opening on the right front of the engine. The frame channel had to be notched slightly.
