Brakes are straightforward, you should be safe just going at them without any manual.
Hydraulic filter is located inside the reservoir, under the seat. You have to pick the reservoir cover STRAIGHT up to get at it or you'll wreck the filter. The cover is heavy, so your best bet is to have some good strong help and a plan for setting the cover down somewhere (on a couple of 4x4s works) if you decide to go after the filter. Replacement fluid is Hytran, available at your IH dealer (5 gal. should do the entire system including the loader). Drain for the hydraulic reservoir is a plug under the hitch cylinder bracket. If you have factory power steering, I think that's where the return line from the steering column taps into the reservoir.
