1) Bring #1 to top of compression stroke. 2) Line up timing mark on flywheel. 3) Magneto; Turn mag counterclockwise slowly just until the impulse releases and lock it down right there. Distributor; With ignition on put volt meter from distributor side of coil to ground - you should be reading no voltage. Turn the distributor slowly counterclockwise until you read battery voltage indicating the points have broken. Lock it down right there.
This is static method of timing. Don't let anyone talk you into dynamic timing.
