Think you may have the 12 volt type W 450. If so the on off switch has 2 terminals and push button 2 terminals. Starter switch has 2 small terminals and a resistor is used at coil. If so the wire from on off switch that has power only when switch is on goes to one terminal on push button switch. Also the wire to resistor goes on same terminal. only the wire to starter switch goes on other push button terminal. On the other small starter switch terminal a wire goes from it to coil side of resistor so that coil is powered by full voltage while cranking. Sounds like you may only be getting power to coil from that sourse and power to coil is stoped when you quit cranking. If tractor is wired correct look for a bad resistor or open wire from resistor to push button switch. If wired as above, if the on off switch was bad it wouldn't power strater so it must be okay. A simple test light is all thats needed to see if there's power at resistor or coil with switch on.
