No, your question is not too dumb. Nobody knows the answer to the question! If anything, your question is too ADVANCED, and requires very specific knowledge that very very very few people have. It's not like asking what kind of oil to use in the engine; you want to know about the inner workings of a very delicate and intricate piece of equipment that most barnyard mechanics are afraid to even consider.
The long and short of it is, nobody works on gauges. If the gauge doesn't work, they either live with it or replace it with a working gauge, either used or new, OEM or aftermarket.
If you pull the gauge out of your tractor, notice that there is NO way to get in. There are no bolts, no screws holding it together. It is a SEALED unit. What little I know is, that the unit is assembled through the front, then the glass is added and the lens holder is crimped on.
