Be sure and check the bolts that hold the fiberglass cover for the S/R lever. The holes will crack out and let the cover move. This changes the position of the lever. When you move the lever over to the side to go to forward or reverse you also seat a ball in the drive control valve. If the cover has shifted the ball can't seat properly, will loose drive pressure & tractor will stop. When the tractor stops idle down and push in on the lever see if it takes off again. If so adjust the cover as needed. This is a very common problem in an older tractor.Hope this helps
