Would agree that the 1950 is original. Think your other block with C 248 on it is the same bore size without sleeves installed as a stock M block. Ones I find that have C 248 on block and a bore size without sleeves installed that is the same as C 264 or C 281 blocks are cast number 365586 R91, if not ground off. All of these I have noticed were cast in sixties, but since there not that common I'm not sure about start dates. Also found some replacement blocks with same cast number 365586 R1 but have cast size C 264 or C 281. Another thing that may point to a replacement block is a small flate plate on block near carburetor, held with 2 bolts. Hope this helps.
