this road mower tractor has a plate where the 540 should be. looks like normally there would be a stub shaft in that spot, and the 1000rpm is the long, directly driven shaft.
do you guys/gals think the bearings, idler gear, and etc would be inside with a dummy shaft since it's 1000 only? or would they only run the 1000 parts. it looks like the design would not require the 540 idler or stub shaft for alignment or thrust loads to have a 1000 rpm only. the cih parts site does not show or mention this setup, but does show a dummy 1000 shaft if it's a 540 only machine.
i should have pulled the cover off the 540 spot when i changed the hydraulic filter but was in a time crunch. i think it's above the full oil level anyway(?)
