All 12v Ford coils were designed to be used with a resistor (on the cars the pink wire from the key in the wiring loom was a resistance wire and warmed up in use ((not bright to my way of thinking)). That coil will eventually burn out and get hot from ever decreasing resistance from internal shorts. Eventually the input will short enough to cause massive current rise , melting wires an points. The condenser is probably OK. JimN
