If you have a chance to buy your grandfather's tractor, do it. If it doesn't have the belt pully for a belly mower, you can find one in a salvage yard for about $100, then get a belly mower, they can be found new or used. It will be more manuverable than if you get a pull behind mower with two wheels that raises up and down.
