What was it rated at from the factory for max high idle engine speed? Our W6 is rated to run 1450 no load rpm, but ours does somewhere in the neighborhood of 1650 or so. It has been that way for 40+ years, and had its only engine rebuild sometime in the 1970's. However, we don't run it wide open pulling a plow for a week straight anymore, either. As long as you are sensible with its use, it probably won't do too much damage. Just because you have the extra rpm doesn't mean you need to use it 24/7/365. . .
