You are correct, you add fluid thru the cover right ahead of the battery box that has 3 bolts. Ahead of the clutch pedal, about half way down on the case there is a small pipe plug, remove that plug and fill till fluid appears (13-15 gal). That is the proper level. The hydaulics have a separate reservoir that needs to be serviced separately. Under the gas tank there is a tank with a drain plug ahead of the brake petals, above the rear end housing. Remove to drain. Right above the plug there are 4 bolts in about a 2" square that need to be removed to allow you to pull the filter out. If the filter is ok it can be washed out and replaced, however many times they are collapsed from operating dirty. They are availabe at your Case-IH dealer (pricey). After replacing, you refill thru plug above the filter, It has a dipstick on it and holds a couple gallon +/-. Good luck!!
