My opinion is that I like to do them as the factory "should have" had they taken the time. It doesn't hurt anything, but belts, hoses, harnesses, etc were not made to be painted. IH and others did it simply as a matter of convenience. I have no use for the correct police. I do however like to see them painted in the correct color scheme, the items I mentioned excluded. Radiators are however you want to do it, they don't really show anyway. Voltage regulator caps starters and generators I paint, but I don't consider it a disaster if they are left black. On the other hand, red and white color schemes on the letter series I consider ugly.
