Hello Jim - well I looked for a ground under the seat support pan and did not find one.
I did find a grounding lug on the left bottom corner of the support frame for the instrument panel that was in need of some serious cleaning. Did that and it helped with some other things like making the engine temp gage and the fuel quantity gage work more reliably.
I did some phone calling to Case/IH dealers in the mid-west trying to find a more up to date wiring diagram. Found several copies of the one I have which does not have my HI/LO beam arrangement.
I think the 484 I have is/was an Industrial/Commercial model hence the HI/LO beam complete with a HI/LO toggle switch on the lower left corner of the panel.
S0 - - - I ran my own ground wire back the the point I found, played with the wiring harness at the lights and found which one was hot when the light selector switch was in the Lights position and now I can turn on my headlights with the selector switch. Not the optimum solution but better than nothing.
