No threads on the round end, Dave. If you look around just inside the front end, just ahead of the engine, you'll see a rounded area of the casting right behind where they slip in. With luck, you'll see a square head plug sticking up. If not you'll see a threaded hole. The square head plug threads into the hole and locks down on the light support rod. Gives you in-and-out and up-and-down adjustment. If the plug is missing, there's no reason tou couldn't ue a regular bolt I don't think, but I' can look up the thread size if that'll help. OEM sells the plugs. By plug, I mean the head is no larger diagonally than the diameter of the thread, unlike a bolt square-head bolt shere the head is larger than the thread.) Same set up for the light support going into the rear light bracket, just easier to get to!
