I replaced the temp gauge on my '43 H as no readings at all though it looked ok. The new one from Fleet Farm had a bit longer line from gauge to the motor but it's new. After replacing most outter gaskets (no head gasket for all the others) I ran it for about 15 mins. Water was hot and ran well but the gauge that starts at 130 degrees never moved. Is water not getting to the sensor or do I have to work her a bit to raise the temp. above 130+ degrees? I have no leaks (oil nor water) but it does smoke a bit at low idel. Is there a valve issue and anything in the head that would not allow water to cover the gauge for a reading or something else?
