Larry: Are you in Canada or USA? The 444 is basically a British designed tractor. The 444s sold in Canada were completely British built and assembled. In the US tractor engine and chassis were shipped to Louisville where wheels, front axle, steering, sheet metal, dash, PTO, hydraulics, radiator, front axle and electrical were installed and those items are all different.
Then you have the vets thoughts, there were numerous hydraulic plumbing ideas for loaders that can vastly change how everything operates. Then you add to that 35 years of owner modification, some of which shut the oil supply off to the hitch. You may do as George suggests with poor results if plumbing is your problem.
