Scotty, You can certainly get leakage past the shims on the BN transmission bearing cage and not the seals especially since you have had the bearing cage loose. That bearing cage should come right out as it is just held on with three or four bolts. Are you sure you are pulling it out perfectly straight? Make sure the gap is the same all around as you pull it out. Another problem may be if that bearing is really bad, it may have spun on the shaft and gauled the surface. If that is the case you may have a real hard time getting it out. This may be why the cage only comes out a little (until the ring and pinion gear bottom out). As a side note, a real down side of breaking the bearing cage is that you will have to realign the ring and pinion gear, which is not an easy procedure. If you do get it out, I suggest you coat the shims with a light coating of gasket cement. Good luck. Roger
