If you have to pull start it then the battery might be weak enough to cause problems at low engine speed since the gen doesn"t put out much if anything at low RPM. Have the battery tested to be sure, but also clean EVERY connetcion on the tractor. all battery cables at both ends, all starter cables at both ends and check to see if the switch terminals get hot when starting. Clean all the terminals on the gen and regulator. The spark plugs need a good voltage to be able to jump the air gap on the plug. when the engine comes up on compression it has more air in the same place to jump the gap and that is also the point the plug has to fire.If the coil is weak, or some other problem is not letting the coil have enough juice to fire the plugs then it wil run bad or even die at low speed.
