We had a 10-20 when I was kid and we never filled the gas tank with engine running. Even when we were filling silo we filled in the morning and shutdown at noon for lunch and refilled the gas tank and checked the oil level. Our neighbor had a 15-30 used only for belt work and he always shut the engine down too. Hal PS: The owner of that 15-30 did custom threshing and I usually followed it since they needed help. On the last job of the season when they were blowing straw into the straw mow it hit a light bulb and started a fire. The thresher was lost since the 15-30 had solid rubber tires and wouldn't pull the thresher from the barn. There were a lot wet eyes in that area. That's been 57 years ago and as a kid I never forgot it.
