I am only 29 years old and was not with this tractor from the beginning so I can not swear that this is the original tach. If you saw this tractor in person and drove it, you would say it is. I'm not going to get in an arguing match whether this is a "Dupont" restoration. I know what I have. There's no way I can convince you by me just saying what's been done to it. To the best of my knowledge, all the "repairs" done to this tractor was because of it sitting and mostly consisted of seals and o-rings and things that dry rot except for the TA and clutch. If you had a tractor split apart, wouldnt you put a clutch in it if you were doing a restoration? I didnt know there was anything written in concrete that a TA couldnt go out on one with only 1700 hrs. Every other tractor I see says "TA not working" so it must be pretty common for them to tear up. I did not personally know the original owner, and he has passed away(I know some of you will be skeptical about this but you will just have to trust me) but my dad knew him and he told me today he was a catfish farmer and said this tractor was only used to turn a paddle wheel. Im sure he used the tractor for other odd jobs but this is what the tractor did the most. As far as the weights, here is a close up of them so you all will have to figure this out. I thought I had a pretty nice tractor in good shape till I posted on this board. I'm thinking about parting it out now. Anybody need a new TA?? Thanks to the ones who posted the kind words. Brad

Today's Featured Article - Oil Bath Air Filters - by Chris Pratt. Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
