al , i did a live pump on my 48 m. i bought the pump at a sale, was a new complete kit never installed. also had a block off plate to convert the belly pump to a hydraulic oil resevoir.. my loader has a built in tank, so i didnt change the belly pump over. couple things to keep in mind. first, the live pump top two bolts do not line up with the bolt holes on the m. they will fit the very late m's and the supers. second, the older m's used a weak camshaft gear. mine lasted about a year with the old gear and the live pump before it let go. then you have to pull the front cover and replace the gear.you have 2 options for the front cover. 1 st, replace the front cover and mounting plate with one off a super m. pump will bolt right up. other option, this is the route i went according to the instructions that came with the pump conversion kit. install 2 grade 2 bolts in the top two pump mount holes on the front cover, cut them off, file them smooth and flat. next, mount the pump using the bottom two holes, and redrill the top two holes. then tap the holes for the mounting bolts. if i remember they are 3/8 coarse thread. the pump will now bolt up. the new holes will be partially in the grade 2 bolts. be careful so you dont drill completely thru the cast cover. use the gasket for the super m to mount the pump. not too bad a job to do. nice thing now with the live pump, you can add char-lynn power steering with a priority valve. real nice on the m with a loader
