I am going to look at an international 2544 loader tractor this weekend and would like some feed back on price and suitability. First the tractor (have not seen it yet, this is what I was told) industrial model with a 3000 loader in very good condition and low hours (under 3K) PTO, live hydraulics, gas, manual tranny with shuttle shift (not TA),very good rubber, 3pt hitch, shed kept. includes good bucket and a set of IH forks. Asking 5.5K for the package. I was hoping to use this mostly for logging and woods maintenance. I have a farmi winch and have been using an oliver 1365 deisel up to now. About the same hp but the oliver is about 1500 lbs lighter. I have been wanting a loader so thought about switching. I also do a little mowing and snow plowing. The oliver has high and low range (8 fwd, 2 reverse) I don"t use the low range all the time but find it very handy when working in the woods in tight spots and when I really need the control of very low speeds. I can"t find any info on the 2544 or 544 as far as ground speed in the various gears so I am nervous about not having low enough gearing. also is this price good and will I regreat going from diesel to gas? any other comments about this tractor good, bad, or indifferent? any help or info would be apreciated, Thanks Joe
