It is very possible that the float has become stuck due to the fuel deteriorating in the carb. Most likely the needle has become stuck in the seat also. Probably no need to replace either one, just take it apart and clean it all up. You might want to clean the gunk out of the bottom of the carb bowl also. After fighting the same problem on my M, I now completely drain the gas tank and the carb if it is going to just sit for more than 2 or 3 months.
