Good job Andy. The idea, like JIH Man says is old very old! My Dads 1921 Chevy has a tube that runs from a heat stove on the exhaust pipe to the carb inlet as does my 1924 Oldsmobile. It was a common practice back then till carbs and manifolds were designed better. My H has been starting ok in the cold, but sure sputters a lot until it warms up good. I have to use about half choke when cold also after it starts for about a minute. I am still cutting wood and will be until the mud or snow gets deep so the H is still in use for now till I get it back home.
