Can't help you on how rare X9 is, probably rare considering a MV is not common to start with. Fourth gear is the only one shown in parts books as having a faster option. Have wondered why they call some suffix high speed gears and some 7 MPH attachment, don't know if it has anything to do with the fact that if fourth was 7 MPH in a M it would be slower in a MV with the same size tires. The drops have a smaller sprocket at top than at bottom and slow things down a little on a MV. Not to long after SM started the ring gear was changed from a 50 teeth to 47 on the V tractors to offset the speed reduction in drops.
