Sorry guys. The block number and the serial number were not the same. The block number was cast into the block. On my B, the serial number is "stamped" into a flat behind the distributor. The problem with the number on the motor block was that an engine change could result in two different serial numbers on the tractor. If the serial number on the engine on A's and B's does not match the number on the seat bracket, the engine would not be original. The stamped numbers were not placed on C's, Super A's, or beyond. The casting number on all the Farmall parts I have seen includes a number followed by a letter which indicates the year of casting. The same letter code was used on early A and B serial numbers. My 200 still has the letter code with the casting number. The seat bracket on my B is gone and all I have is the serial number on the engine. Since I do not know the history of the tractor I can't be positive that the number stamped on the engine is the same as the original tractor, but there is nothing I can do about that. I also have a 200 that does not have the name plate. The serial number was not stamped onto the engine so I will not be able to establish the serial number.
