Group 1 is a 6-Volt battery. You need a 12-Volt.
I found that a Group 26 (IIRC) Champion brand battery from K-Mart was the best fit in my Cub's battery box, which would also normally take a Group 1 6-Volt. Not all Group 26 batteries are the same, though (some are much taller), so you might want to take some measurements before you head off to the battery store, and take a tape measure with you.
