If the unit was dry the engine was working that means the pump had no fluid to circulate. If that is the case the pump is probably shot. You mite want to remove a plug on the pump and fill with oil this just mite prime the pump. After starting the engine listen to the pump it should make a noise and you mite need to srop the engine and re-prime the pump and then restart. If you still dont hear any noise from the pump mite as well drain the res and remove the pump as it could be ruined by not having any oil to keep it lubed and we can go from there.
