The hydro was serviced or rebuilt? We had a 656 gas hydro - a darn good and handy tractor, but that gasser mated to a hydro is one heck of a fuel hog! Also, a hydro is very poor for any heaving pulling/tillage work. Hydro is great for mowing, raking, loader work, etc.
The only trouble we ever had with ours was that the hydro was getting weak around 6500 hours and a cam lobe was bad, causing a valve to burn out... and of course the fuel consumption!
Is the one you're looking at gas or diesel? How many hours since rebuild? How is the tin? Beat up tin is usually a sign of how the innards of the tractor were cared for as well... beautiful tin is also a sign that the owner was proud of his equipment and took good care of the service items...
