A solenoid relay makes really positive contact, and is a good way to make this thing work great IF you don't mind the slightly unoriginal look. If I were using one of these tractors all the time and had any trouble with the original switches, I'd go for a waterproof pushbutton mounted up on the light bar and put a solenoid down under somewhere out of sight. I remember when Ford had a pushbutton starter about 1940, and everybody raved about how easy it was to use. Other cars used switches very similar to the one on the H and M, and they always required a fair amount of effort, AND they eventually burned the contacts when people sometimes didn't push hard enough--an arc would start across the contacts and in time they would become black and non-conductive.
