Just did my 49 Cub a month ago and after research on it i decided not to put anything on i left it dry...I did use thread sealer on the bolts beacuse some of them go into the water jacket. The most important thing is that the head is not warped. There is not one right answer to what to do with the head gasket coat it not coat i had luck with doing nothing but its up to you, CNKS said 10 diffrent replys you going to find on this lol
