Hi C, my brother has a 684. Everything was built in UK except the D239 Diesel engine was build in Neuss Germany. Weak pionts: 1)hydraulic brakes. Can get air in the system and require bleeding. 2)Park brake if left engaged and tractor driven then brake band material in hydraulic oil. D239 is a good engine found in many tractors and industrial back hoes. Is not as good on cold starts as the D206 in 584.
Very unusall for D239 to burn oil unless it is worn out. My brother's used to leak crankcase oil at the clutch inspection plate and three years ago when we replaced clutch, pressure plate and had flywheel ground, found rear main seal cap bolts had never been tightend. Tightend bolts to spec and engine never uses or leaks any oil now and it has over 8,000 Hrs on it.
