F250gal: I presume cavitation was the culpert, just going by your concerns. Does the tractor have a water filter, that won't eliminate cavitation, but does slow it down. Also check IH specs, some antifreezes are better for that system than others. It's been awhile, thus I don't remember those.
Which engine does your 886 have. Early ones had the American built IH 360, and later they used the German built IH 358. I was always quite a firm believer in the American engines, one could hardly call me impartial. Here in eastern Canada we got a lot of European diesels, all makes. In the beginning they were not climatized very well for our cold winter starting. It tended to be something one never forgot.
