I did this a couple years ago on my 404. The little cap bolt on the end is all that hold is on. The hub slides onto the splines and as posted elsewhere, 40+ years will have stuck them on really well. I had to remove the entire axle tube from each side and bring it to a local shop with a 100ton press to get them off. Doing that shattered both hubs...but got the hub off the axles. The damage to the splines was pretty significant on one of them so I needed a new axle too. Got the parts used but none of it was cheap. When you get them apart, be VERY generous with antiseize...
