I always understood that the silver (galvanized rims) came in about 1943, before then all wheels, separate rims or not, were red. My 1941 W4 is all red. The IHC paint committee decisions do not comment on different colour for rims. The tractors (after November 1, 1937) were red enamel and the wheels were red varnish. The 1940 paint chart show these as almost identical colours. Before November 1 1937 the tractors were grey with red wheels.
