The situation with these that throws most folks off, is realizing how little bit of looseness it takes between steering shaft worm-half gear ratio and tyrods, to give a half or even a full turn of free travel at the steering wheel. Hard to imagine until you give it some thought. I've seen 1-1/2 turns free travel on steering wheel, and the whole problem was right in the two woodruff keys in the vertical shaft.(steering control arm and half gear)
