I'll have to admit, I was on the disappointed side at the show in Dayton. There were quite a few parts, and 2 big sections of manuals, but I only saw the 5 tractors there at the show (1 inside and 4 out). I was expecting a whole lot more than that. I was under the impression that the show facility itself was gonna be rather large also. I hate to say it, but I have been to many toy shows bigger than this (excluding Dyersville and St. Louis). I stayed for all 3 days and did everything there was to offer to try to get the full effect and to try to give it a fair chance, but I can't say it was worth my costs (motel and driving from southern IL). When it comes right down to it, after talking to many venders, I think many of them were disappointed because of the lack of crowd. I didn't go last year in Moline, but from what they all (vendors) told me, all 3 days this year couldn't even compare to any 1 day from last year. I guess I may have mislead myself in what I was believing or what others told me it was gonna be like. But I guess my problem is I am used to the Moline conventions, which are really well put on (outside, lots of tractors, lots of information readily available, basically anything and everything you could ever want, etc). Just having a degree in Business Marketing (not that makes me smart or anything), I can only offer my opinion, nothing more: don't have it in the center of town and hard to get to; grant it the weather probably didn't help either; don't have it at such a high priced motel, yes it is nice to put on brochures, but when people pay $85 a night, that cuts down on the spending money; get in a location where there is some food and not a high priced motel restaurant. Easy access please. I am sorry if I have offended anyone by the things that I have said. I had/have no intension of causing problems, but all I am doing is stating my opinion. Thanks and lets hope for better later this year.
