I have had mine out twice because of it getting out of the groves. Dry both times. I think if grease gets slung up that far it will end up everywhere on the platform. As far as the caps go, when I take mine out, I use a punch and only drive one side till the cap comes off the other side and then drive the pin out back the other way so it drives the other cap off. Done it twice and have saved the caps both times although I straightend them back up on the anvil. You can smear some grease on the round part and pour a little gear oil down the hole to lube the sliders.
