Wardner: 1468 most likely only had 1,000 rpm pto when new. The dual shaft could be installed, however IH frowned on it in any tractor larger than the 1066. I know even my 1066 pto used to run much hotter on max load on the 540 shaft than on a the 1,000 shaft. I soon got rid of my 540 drive forage harvester. I believe somewhere in IH literature they don't recommend exceeding 85 hp demand with 540 pto.
If your putting a dual shaft pto from a 706 in a 1468, it should bolt up and work. Just don't offer him any warrenty.
