A person just doesn't take note of what the gages actually look like. Ours came out with the standard cold-run-hot temp. gage. The oil pressure was red on the left side of travel [low] & I think the rest of the "sweep" was white with a white needle. Our oil gage went out & we put in a Stewart-Warner which hasn't caused any trouble. The ammeter just had 0 in the center & D[discharge] to the left & C[charge] to the right with 5 marks equally spaced across the top --3 being over the C D & 0. Believe it said amperes on the bottom. Not sure--I'll check in the morning at chores & let you know.

Today's Featured Article - Oil Bath Air Filters - by Chris Pratt. Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
