OP's tractor is a GAS 350. He was wondering about using the engine from an M diesel. It won't work without major modifications to the tractor because the M engine won't fit between the frame rails. If you ever get a look at a 460 (direct descendant of your 350), you'll see that the frame rails flare out to go around the big 6-cylinder engine.
An engine out of an H, Super H, 300, or 350 will bolt right in. However, unless you've got major engine damage, such as a rod through the side of the block, or a crank that is too worn to be ground, or cracks between the cylinders, rebuild the original engine. You'll have a known quantity that will last you as long as you own the tractor.
