M T A said: (quoted from post at 07:56:54 02/07/08) DO not use the ta in the winter, it is beter that way.
Care to explain why?
Everyone else, please forgive me for the mildly hostile tone of this post. Baseless statements like this do far more harm than good. People blindly follow advice like this and end up in trouble, usually with an expensive repair bill to go along with it...
Here's what I mean: In winter, the biggest tractor-based job is usually spreading manure, often in deep snow and/or mud. The TA can mean the difference between churning through a tough spot, or running out of power and having to push the clutch. Anybody that's ever spread manure in the winter has been through this, and knows that pushing the clutch usually results in you getting stuck!
"Don't use the TA in winter." What a load of horse manure! A maintained TA in good condition works just as well in winter as summer, and doesn't incur any more wear and tear in winter than summer. Especially the mechanical ones.
Sure the TA will last longer if you don't use it at all, but then why have a TA?

Originally the company was called the Cleveland Motor Plow Company which began in 1912, then the Cleveland Tractor Company (1917) and finally Cletrac.
