It is normally reccomended that you warm up your tractor to really test a t/a because the oil is thinner that way. During cold weather the oil is thicker of course which means it should hold the pressures ok. It sounds like the t/a side of the clutch pack is not engaging for some reason or your sprag is failing. When the tractor is warmed up and the t/a is failing that is the point of time that I would worry about the t/a being bad.
