like andrew said check the block to be sure it isnt plugged up. backflush it, run some rad flush cleaner also. if that doesnt help, check your valve adjustment, they may be too tight, or the seats may be worn . last check the distributor if equipped or mag to see if the advance is working. if the timing is retarded, it will heat up. i just went thru that with my minnie moline, exhaust manifold would get red hot, boil the gasoline in the fuel tank. advance weights had froze up.
