GeneMo, Being as your from ''Missourah''....''The Show-Me State'',...let me ''Show '' you something...!
Any overhead valve cylinder head ,be it a IH tractor, Automotive, Truck, Volkswagen Flat 4 ,Harley Davidson and nameless Jap import junk all use CC to measure the combustion chamber volumes of the combustion chamber of the head. One of the ways of checking this is to use a ''BURETTE KIT AND STAND''. By use of a liquid with a dye in it ...this will let the engine builder know in VERY SMALL increments ...the CC of the compression chamber of the head they are working on . Very useful info to figure compression ratio, checking CC before and after polishing or other work has been done to the combustion chamber , the use of different thickness of head gasket....I could go on. CC is the chosen measurement in checking intake and exaust valve flow at different valve opening heights, port size and much more using a gas on a flow bench.
So, from 1 ''Redneck'' to Another...in this case,.... ...CI or CID MEANS NOTHING !
