I just rebuilt both of my finals on our 48 SA. The right-hand side was a bugger to get the brake drum off. I tried all my pullers, heat, you name it. The last resort was to put the final drive housing in my press and push the differential shaft through the drum and out the housing. Once I got past the drum to shaft surface the shaft slid right out of the housing. The shaft passes through the outboard hole of the final drive housing. Have fun, Greg.
