one thing to that it might be is that the impuse coupling is going in the mag and not producing a good hot spark, and or the impluse is set wrong.

I know people are not going to think this is ture, but... i had this problem with a Allis B. I rebuilt the enine top to bottom, and i had the mag rebuilt etc.... and i tell you that engine would not start with the hand crank to say its self. This was a problem since this was a hand start only lol. Anyway i would ask how many hours you have on the engine? my didnt want to start good with the hand crank untill i had over 25 to 50 hours on the engine. Now it starts good with the crank. Just something to think about..
