The stress is on the bottom of the tractor. The load is pushing down trying to push the belly towards the ground.
Doesn't much matter how a guy builds 'em, just so it "strengthens" that bottom.
Old farmalls were really suspectable because of that big hollow torque tube, but I've seen 4020 JDs split right in half too.
After the problem started showing up, Farmhand changed the way they built the mounts so that the tractor was "beefed" as well.
Here's how I did my little H with the F-11. Also a picture of the newer F-10 mounts and then finally the F-235 mounts.
If you have a F-10 with the old "box" type mount, run a stringer from that box up to the front strut mount at the rail and pull it tight with a turnbuckle. Both sides.
