I've seen a lot of them plumbed up that way over the years. I agree with the others that I would want more oil capacity than that and it does occur to me that with the tank being buried inside the tractor there are now 2 things working against cooling the oil. I've also seen a few that use a combination of the gutted belly pump along with a small (3-5 gal.)tank mounted opposite the battery box. That doubles the capacity and and gets a tank out where it can cool better.
